From what I am told on other forums, DBAN takes many hours to several days (depending on who you ask). Is there any free or paid alternative with a GUI, that wipes a drive like DBAN, but in a reasonable amount of time?

The time it takes depends on what type of wipe you are performing, you can do it fast, like one pass writing zeros, or long with several passes with some DoD standard. The time you want to spend depends on your paranoia of how "clean" you want the drive. So if you find a faster one (or use DBAN's quick selection) it is faster because it is doing a "less" secure wipe.
The time it takes is broken down to the size of the drive, the speed of the drive and the method of cleaning.

Just run a single pass of zeroes. I've yet to hear of anyone recovering data from a single pass wipe.

I normally do a DOD standard with only one pass when wiping files.

FYI Advance systemcare has this option.

I typically do 3...I'll check out that post.
FWIW, if you also "clean junk" + "wipe free space" regularly with software, older stuff gets overwritten quite often if you use your computer a lot!
However, much stuff is stored in logs, EVEN IN PRIVATE BROWSING! I have a research paper about it (I downloaded), I'll try to upload the link next time I'm here.

BOTTOM LINE: Use private browsing or clear history. If the setting is available (FF and variants), ONLY allow cookies *for session*, and they'll get automatically deleted even if you allow the sites. After you close your brower, open + close it ONE MORE TIME. That wipes the application's own log, at least.

Sorry so long. Here's the article (I don't know where I got it, you have to buy the issue or the article, or you can subscribe):
"Private browsing: A windows of forensic opportunity" - Howard Chivers (Digital Investigtion, vol. 11, 2014, pp. 20-29)
    https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/digital-investigation/vol/11/issue/1

It's hilarious...the journal's own website has articles on security, and they say browsing history isn't even saved if you use "Private Browsing". Yet this reasearch is from 2014!

    It's 2021...
Use DuckDuckGo. Whatever is saved on your computer can be securely wiped.

Sorry, Eldon...I was referring to how "private" private browsing really is or isn't...but it was getting off-topic from wiping.

Incidentally, the speed and size of the hard drive is the major factor. Also, I wonder if Senex has magnetic or SSD disk? If you're uncomfortable with 1 wipe, do 2. But you don't need to do 6-10 wipes unless it's required at work/government agency.
