Is it possible to buy a better fan to fit in a laptop? I have an Advent 7094. By better I mean one which will cool my system a lot more than the one fitted as standard but nothing ridiculously expensive.
If so are they easy to fit? I was advised to get a cooling stand for it, its used only on my desktop mostly anyway, is that the best way to go?

I've seen that you can get coolers that attach to the laptop and sit underneath, don't know what they're like though.

Make sure the inlet and outlet vents are clean.
Make sure they are both unobstructed, to allow cool air in and hot air out.
Also make sure the mesh covering both is clean of dust.
Don't blow dust into the laptop. Clean the vents with a cuetip.

A cheap way out maybe to elevate the laptop. Put a piece of wood, or something (book?), at the top of the laptop to elevate the angle of the keyboard and maybe give better ventilation.

I have read of add-on coolers, but don't know anyone with one. Bazza

Googled for laptop and add-on cooler. :D

With Summer Time coming lots of Laptop users are going to be crying the "Overheat Blues" and it is know wonder when you open any Laptop. Laptops today are almost comparable to Desktops for power and speed, yet they are shoe horned into a ridiculously small case, so heat build up has to come if they are run for any length of time. Remember they were designed for short term use only, not four hour stints.

That being said I found a great product for my wife's Laptop after much searching its the Vantec Lapcool4 Model# LPC-420. Its great features are Either USB Power or its own Transformer pack Power, Foldable , Twin adjustable Fans, 4 extra USB ports, storage trays, and it gives the keyboard the "Correct" typing angle again. It lowered the wifes Laptop temps by 20 degrees, and with the seperate power supply can be left running all the time. The LPC-430 is basically the same but offers a 8 card reader slot as well. I list it as one of my greater finds
