Hi Everyone, I am Bev and live just outside Liverpool - i'm hoping, as many do by the looks of it :) that the loadsa pc brains out there have an answer for me: I have tried to install a three dongle (oh groan I hear you all say - they do get bad press rolleyes) It worked ok on my pc few years ago, (a compaq running XP) bit ancient but works fine. Have not used three for a while as I went to virgin wireless when I moved but cancelled that as too expensive thinking I can pay as I go with the dongle.....now wishing I had not !! Thought I could just plug in and use again as all installed already - no ! Tried reinstalling - get error message 619:A - doesn't recognise the port - the dongle is loading com port 3 and device manager has it on four or five (I have tried reinstalling it on either) My usb ports are four and five and this is supposed to load from one of them - I don't even know where port 3 is ?? I have tried changing port number in device manager - no joy, I have tried changing port on the dongle modem - no - get error message 633 if I do that - the port is in use ! Am at a loss....Help ???

    Hi Bev (great city BTW)

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

What you may find is that the USB port driver for the 3 Dongle is a little messed up, so try this, with the Dongle not plugged in click Start > Run and type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

Then open the Network Adapters branch (click the small + next to it) then plug in your 3 Dongle and wait for Device Manager to re-fresh and the Dongle should show, when it does right click it and choose Uninstall, this will uninstall the driver for this device.

Unplug the Dongle and also look in Add/Remove in Control Panel for any 3 Software and uninstall it.

Reboot your PC and plug in the Dongle again and if the driver is not automatically installed then use the CD or downloaded driver you have.
