for the longest time I played bf2 with my norton '05 internet security firewall turned off, I have since re-thought this idea and now I want to leave the firewall turned on when I play. Problem is, I have allowed every .exe file that I can find in my bf2 folder access to the internet, and it still asks me, after I start up the game, if I want to allow it internet access. At that point, the computer freezes up on me and I can't even get to a log in screen. I can't find anyone else who has posted with this problem, except for one, who was trying to play behind a zone alarm firewall. What am I doing wrong? I have been working on this for a month now, and my bf2 withdrawls are beginning to be to much. please help!

i feel ur pain dude, used to have the same probs with all online games with stupid norton. except for me, it would just ask the first time i ever ran the program (make sure you check always use this action) i finally got fed up with stupid norton and switched to ZoneAlarm and AVG; they work just as well but much easier to use and they use less resources. Free too :)

Hmm there is a few solutions to this. If you're keyboard has a button for standby mode ( It will be of Crescent shape ) when that happens anytime when you're trying to play. Press it ONCE, Wait until it settles press it ONCE again. It will come back to windows logon, Select the user and it will be on windows and it will show Nortons.

    The game will be minimzed.

Or try this. Open up NIS 2005. Double Click Personal Firewall. Go to Program Controls and put the settings on Low. (Remember to move it back to high when you surf the web)

Or you could just do away with NIS 2005, I did just recently and I'm glad I did, Damn bloatware is all it is.

well, thanks for the replies....I do hate norton, and agree it is bloatware....I was just hoping that I could get my money's worth out of my year subscription....I tried to play with settings on low, to no avail....Zone alarm, here I come....
