BF2 is retarded

And by retarded, i mean slow. This just started happening today where battlefield 2 loads everything SOOOOOOOOO slow. Maps take like 3 minutes, and then after that it takes maybe another 2 to actually get in-game. The server browser takes about 30 seconds to load map settings and sometimes it just becomes unresponsive then does everythign really fast when it unlocks (like hops around to all the things i tried to click) I used to run everything just fine until and i havent changed any system setting or anything. I was thinking maybe a memory problem since it is pc3200 running at pc4100 but i dont see why it would just now start causing problems. Already reinstalled it along with the patches so im kinda stumped

 

You should see BF 2142, it's even slower, and on the lowest graphics settings on my 6600GT, I only get 10-35fps. On BF2, at lowest possible settings I get 110fps.

 

Once i get in game for a while (like after the 1st round) it runs just fine. Dont know my FPS buts it never gets choppy and it plays great; thats on high settings with 2x AA @ 1024x768. I dont think its my video card, it can handle everything i throw at it. Its just the loading and the freezing that kills me.

 

Patch 1.4 came out yesterday - have you downloaded and installed that??

Yeah, just got it yesterday and its a little bit better but not much...The menu still hangs every so often but seems to free up more quickly. I have 1 gig of RAM, pc3200@pc4100 speeds and i havent had problems with the game before a couple days ago

 

Stop overclocking your memory and see if that helps.

 

finally got around to tweaking my memory and whaddya know, it works now lol. I guess i just didnt wanna mess with it until i had too cause overclocking requires quite a bit of patience... lol

guess i just needed the push of a fellow 17 year old
