Hi, I want to check with you guys with regards the below link.
    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=129226

    1. Windows Defender was was giving some messages in my laptop (with VISTA Business) some time back. SettingsModifier:Win32/PossibleHostsFileHijack
I ignored this message and clicked on "remove all".
    2. Slowly my IE home page started to change to some unkown destination. I used to set it to 'use blank' every time.
    3. After some time (few weeks) suddenly my laptop started re-starting automatically after the login. I tried several times, after the successfull log-in, it will display the start n all and then suddenly 'BLUE' screen error and it will re-start.
    4. I tried in Safemode with networking, I could log-in. Then I re-created the hosts file manually, and after re-start it goes back to normal.
    5. Now the most recent stage is,
in the normal mode, it will re-start automaticaly after the login and in the safe mode with networking, it gets sturck and after 5-10 mins it goes for a re-start.

Can you guys help me? I know there is some virus. How can I remove it and make my laptop functional? You help would be much appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

I tried it with KasperSKY Rescue desk. I scanned the laptop a couple of times. Once with the ligt scan and second time with the deep scan.

In the initial scan it detected some virus/trojan and it removed also suggested about hosts file corrupted. I did as per the recommended action (restore). But when I viewed the file, it is corrupted.

Then I did the deep scan, the only report was about the hosts file, again applied the recommendation to restore. But still the same status i.e. it is still corrupted status. What do you suggest for this?

Moreover, the laptop is still re-starting. Any other suggestions pls?

You are still unable to boot into normal or safe mode? There isn't much we can do in the malware forum until you can access a stable system.

The other alternative is to try creating this disc to boot up to:
    UBCD4Win
