for your first question, you dont even have to buy cds..
id like to explain... the "red book" format puts a size lock on the disc... in some cetain burning software you can turn this locking thingie off.. it gives about an extra 25mb or so.. the only downside is the disc might not work in certain drives.. check it out...
and for your second question... dvd's do go bigger.. but you have to buy a certain drive to accept the new media.. i believe the change is that the disc is double sided.. i believe sony just created the first drive to accept that media...
check out the sony website ( i read about that in pc world)

    cheers

Yes Dual Layer DVDs hold 8.5gb but you need a dual layer burner.... if you have some movie files too large then DVDShrink will help in compressing them down to fit ;) Dual Layer media is not widely or should I say available in mass at cheap prices unlike 4.7gb single layer disks eg 1 8.5gb Verbatim Dual Layer DVD is at Dabs for £19 each ... yes per DVD.. time to wait for prices of media to come down before updating to dual layer burners.

    99min Cdrs
