Big Problem With My External Dvd Drive

I had a blank DVD+RW in there when I plugged it into the USB port. When I opened File Explorer, it didn't give me any information about the capacity of the disc. When I double-clicked the drive, I got a dialog box saying Windows can't access this disc. It may be corrupt or unformatted. I tried putting another DVD+RW in that had a couple of video files on it and File Explorer opened automatically showing me those video files. But when I looked in This PC, the drive information was all weird. It said 0 bytes free of 2.86 GB (the total capacity of the disc should be 4.37 GB), and the letters CDFS were under the drive. I fully erased the disc with CDBurnerXP, and the same thing then happened as happened with the first disc. Once this disc was blank, Windows couldn't access it and said it might be corrupt or unformatted. What could be wrong with the drive? I just tried a movie DVD inside it and it played fine.

Um, OK, it would seem the problem might be solved now, I think. I simply unplugged the drive and plugged it into another USB port. That did the trick. In This PC, I could see all the correct drive information. Total capacity of the disc and no weird letters, and Windows had no problem accessing it. Then I unplugged the drive again and plugged it back into the same port as before, and again, there was no problem. Windows could access the disc fine. What could have happened?

Perhaps the pc history of connected drives needed cleaning- If the usb connection works for other things, then it might be worth using the tool to clean up-
Always take care if using any deletion tool, and read the replies carefully

Doesn't look like a cable issue.
