I just bought a used computer-I don't have the Windows 200 Pro disc-I can't connect to the Internet(dial-up) because the dialup software isn't installed. The comp has 1gig of RAM and tons of hard drive space (2 harddrives),it has a AMD 64 processor-I was hoping someone knew of a download for the missing networking software.I could d/l it with this laptop onto a thumb drive to my newest computer.Any ideas?

hi, you don't need network software to go on dial up, just a 56k modem, they only cost a few quid (if you live in england) and come with the drivers, depending on how much you use the net consider broadband, my phone bill was horrendous on dial up, switched to broadband with a set price and 2.3 meg band-width, hope this helps.
    i have 2000pro as well

    Thanks for responding Hawklord

I only have access to dial up out here in the country. I have earthlink installed and I put the earthlink software on the new computer and when it goes to connect a message pops up stating " The destination cannot be reached". I called earthlink and they looked up the message and replied that I needed to reinstall Windows 2000 Pro because whoever installed it did not install certain software that allows for internet connections. I have been looking around the Microsoft Website to no avail. Do you think that when the original owner installed Windows 2000 there was a way for him to delete or not include the needed software during the installation?

hi, not familiar with earthlink but if you have a dial up modem and its working ok (my computer/control panel/system/hardware/device manager) then try my computer/control panel/internet options/connections/set-up, you only pay for the time you are on the internet (paid on your phone bill), there is no real contract,
    hope this helps

I'm assuming that your copy of Windows 2000 Pro has the license key stamped on the side of your computer case. If so, you could borrow a Windows 2000 Pro CD from someone and download what you need.

Jim,no license key on side-the guy I bought it from built it.
I'm going to Intrex today and buy a copy of Windows XP and an external modem
hopefully this will solve everything. The have xp for $100.I'll be out another $150,but maybe it will then work.
