Bin off desktop

Anyone know how to get the recycle bin off the desktop without using a program like xteg

 

urm, i think right click it, properties, then check do not move files to the recycle bin.

Im not sure about this to be honest...

 

I want to keep the bin just lose the icon off the desktop i know you can do it with xteg but i do'nt want to install a program like that to use one function I was wondering if there was a reg key i could edit?

 

Do you already have MS Tweak UI for XP?

 

Here ya go
Start the Registry Editor
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Current Version \ Explorer \ Desktop \ Namespace
Expand the Namespace by double-clicking on it
Delete the Key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} (the one with the value Recycle Bin)
Close the registry editor and press F5 to update the Desktop
To restore the Recycle Bin, you have to add the {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} key, so the best thing to do (before you remove the key) is to backup the Key, this can be done by selecting the key {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}, and from the menu choosing Registry > Export Registry file, give it a name, choose a location where to save it, and check to make sure that in the Export range box Selected branch is selected.

Note: The Recycle Bin will only be removed from your Desktop. You can still access the Recycle Bin from Explorer.
