Black screen and this alarm (one high one low, goes for ever). No new hardwere where added. This is a Pentium4 3Ghz 1.25RAM AtiRadeon 3850, win xp sp3, motherbord brand is Epox. Not sure what bios this is. Was playing with overclocking 2 weeks ago, but changed all to OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS the next day.
Any of you know what exactly is this alarm about ?

I haven't looked up any codes. Just the basics to start.
Unplug it and remove the coin cell battery for a minute to be sure it is reset back to defaults. Put the coin cell back in.

Remove both RAM sticks and try to POST with no RAM is the beep the same?

If the beep is the same, then remove both RAM and reseat only one module in the slot closest the the center of the board. See if it will POST. If not try it with only the other stick in that slot. If still the same, try one of the sticks in the other slot leaving the first slot empty.

If the beep is not the same when you try booting with no RAM then, try reseating your video card instead of reseating your RAM.

Tried removing batterie. Tried taking out both ram stiks- alarm changes- one long beep same time as the old one rings aswell. Tried switching them places- no change. Tried taking out video card - different alarm (fast high and low).

The different alarms, to me, indicate that it is not the RAM and not the video card since removing them produced different sounds.

I'll see if I can find anyhing about Epox boards.

Maybe, someone else will jump in with a suggestion.

Edit: Make sure your keyboard is plugged in since that is one of the first things BIOS checks.

    I'm not having much luck.
I did find this which says it is Award bios and that looks like a CPU problem according to their codes. I don't know how accurate the information is as to whether or not it is really Award bios.

Is your CPU fan running and is the 4 prong 12v connector for the CPU plugged in? Wouldn't have unplugged by itself, just mentioning in case you had been working in the case recently.

The full name of the motherbord is Epox EP-4PLA3I. Tried and checked all you'we suggested. No effect. I gues the cpu is dead.
