Well this one is a bit of both hardware software perhaps cooling as well.
Has anyone ever heard of bios not being able to pick up the fan speed?
My fans are properly connected and i can hear them buzing but the bios doesnt show a presence what so ever and my temp went to 80 degr.
Is it posible that the due to bios not recognising the fans that the temperature went up? It sounds a bit stupid but anything is possible. I flashed it about 2 weeks ago.
    Windows xp media center

p.s also not to make a new thread if i can ask a question about seagate baraccuda 120gb sata........ are they naturally loud and make the pc sound like its got a 486 chipset or is mine just faulty?

Did the temperature go up before or after you overclocked your cpu?

    If after, how long afterwards?

    well ok.
I have a massive cooler and when i say massive i mean massive and about 6 fans in the case. A heatpipe vga cooler. Temperature was fine idle about 35 and it woould hit 50max on full load...
Anyway at 3.6 it restarted on me so i droped it down to 3.46 it was fine.. Today the case temp was around 3 and the monitor kept losing signal. I checked the dvi cable it wasnt lose. Temperature still the same.... I put the video card back to original settings and cpu as well and turned up the fans to the max. anyway the monitor kept on losing conection so i restarted went to bios and idle was 70 i could just imagine full load!~ I left it all day off and started it up tonight and thats when i noticed the fan rpms werent showing at all and from 40 it kept rising to about high 70's.

Ok, this is most definetly a hardware issue.

You may want to go to the hardware forum for help on this.

You may have just voided the warranty on your sytem by overclocking it.

High cases temperatures can and do cause all kinds of problems.

The high case temps can and often do burn up your cpu, video, BIOS, etc.

There is really no need to overclock with todays processor speeds. The CPU is the fastest thing on your system. It is waiting for everything else to catch up with it.

The perofrmance boost that overclocking can give you isn't really worth the cost of the hardware meltdowns it can cause.
