I am trying to clear my hard drive and start from scratch with Win XP Professional. I set my BIOS BOOT ORDER to read CD/DVD drive first, then REMOVABLE drive, then HARD DRIVE, and then NETWORK, but when I put in my WIN XP disk in the d: drive and reboot, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

If the boot order is set to cdrom first. My first question would be. How many optical drives to you have?

If one doesn't work, try the other.

In the end, if you wish to wipe and reload your OS, do you have a floppy drive?

Fool, I do have an external drive but how would I start over when my Win XP is on CD?

OK I tried to pull XP setup after it loaded and it said that it cannot be loaded since my current version of XP is newer than the diskette version. Is this possible?

Does the drive do anything at all during the initial bootup with the Windows XP CD in the tray (spin up, etc)? If it does, you may need to jab the spacebar repeatedly at that point to get it to boot from the Windows CD.

Can you access the boot menu during startup. F8 gives me a choice of boots...
