bios not reading harddrive

    hello. sometimes when i start my puter the bios will not read the harddrive that win xp is on now when i reset the bios it will load just fine do i have a harddrive going bad or would it be the bios or motherboard thanx for reading this and maybe helping me out with this problem

    Sounds like could be a dying HDD
    I'd run a HDD Diagnostic Utility they are free from the HDD manufacture some are avaible here at Mg on the Front Page

    You said you reset BIOS then she loads, resetting BIOS, meaning reset CMOS??

    Ya might check your HDD cables,

    You have more than one hard drive??? Are they set properly (master and slave)?
    (Cable select for both)? In the bios ...are they both set to auto detect?

    Could be bad cable ...could be not in the proper order on the cable (IE: master not on last connector).

    yep it was the cable. but thats ok i just got new cables with my new mb m2n32-sli deluxe + the amd x2 3800+ and it rocks
