Bios Virus???

    I am working on a Pavilion DV 2500. Can boot to the bios just fine. Beyond the bios, just a black screen. When I try to boot to a cd or flash drive it goes to a Windows boot manager screen showing a boot error. I can the press f8 to bring up a boot menu. Any of the options I choose will go back to the boot manager error. Here's the really wierd part. I pulled out the hard drive and booted to Active Boot Cd, the same Windows boot manager came up and was able to get up a Windows boot menu by pressing f8. How can that happen with no hard drive?
