I have just put a Duron 933 on a Biostar M7VKB mobo - it recognises the HDD and DVD but will not boot - I have the XP disc in the drive and copied onto the HDD but it comes up with a disk error.
I have tried a different PSU, swapped RAM slots, checked the drives on a different PC...
Seems like an IDE problem - when I go into BIOS setup to change the time etc, it freezes while detecting the drives.

    Any ideas?

What graphics are you using for it?
Try another card if you can.

Abit siluro T200 - I pulled the cpu, ram and graphics out of a working system.
The hdd, dvd and mobo are new.
No error beeps - just one beep for system normal.

Have you tried another hd at all, like the one you're using now?

Yes, it reads the volume information the same as on the new drive
