Bizzare file crashes anything that accesses it

    there's a file located at
    "c:\Documents and Settings\Dan\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\(my email)\SharingMetadata\(persons email removed for privacy)\DFSR\Staging\CS{42FE76AE-F2C2-E713-356F-28815EC3CE20}\01"
that will crash any program that attempts to access it, this includes explorer, so every time i'm in the "documents and settings" folder and it tries to prefetch that folder, explorer goes down. i cant tell you what the actual file name is because i've never actually seen what is inside the 01 folder, every time i try to access it whatever i'm using crashes including the command prompt.

I've tried unlocker and a couple of those secure file deletion programs(eraser, secure delete, etc.) and move on boot in attempts to rid myself of this nuisance but thus far nothing has come close to succeeding.

If you've information on how to expunge this data or how to repair the underlying cause, i'd appreciate it.

Also, uninstalling live messenger doesn't keep the files from crashing explorer when i try to view them and file sharing isn't enabled.
