black desk top

Hi, Just had my pc sorted and serviced,it had a lot of viruses.Everything is fine except when i boot up and selected the desktop i want and apply it after a while it goes asleep and the has a black desktop.then i have to go thru it all again. I have been told its a license thing

 

Do you receive a notification like in the site below?

If not - could this be some spyware (like Rougue Antivirus) remnant?

The only time I have gotten that is when the screen saver or desk top times out from inactivity. You can set that in display I think. Mine is set not to black out for 10 minutes, then everything goes black. Don't know what virus could cause that, wonder what the point would be? Just to make us miserable, I guess. Wonder what virus it is? sheena

 

I have seen a virus enable the active desktop, and put their advert on the desktop.
If a computer repair shop cleaned the virus but did not clean it fully, the active desktop
could show, black, or whatever else, if it could not show the banner for the Rouge malware - the point of the active desktop would be to advertise the supposedly anti-malware they are trying to force you to buy.
The black screen, was a guess, as it could have been - not sure - if possible, left behind when the computer was partially cleaned.

But (and I may be wrong), I believe fatarse, was saying that the black screen he was seeing, was like in the link I provided, here it is agian.
