Windows XP---about 4 yrs old---Gateway---belongs to my daughter---has a black blob on the screen that changes in size and shrinks in size the longer the computer runs---moves slowly around screen---blocks out everything behind it on screen---looks like an old Lava Lamp blob---screen takes about 15 to 20 minutes to come on after being shut down---what the heck?---old type monitor, ( not a flat screen)---monitor?---video card?---anyone know?---thanks in advance!

Sounds like its probably the monitor. LCD monitors are pretty cheap now so I would go out and get a new one.
