black screen again

thought i had it fixed but the problem is back...uninstalled the video driver and reinstalled it the screen came back to the laptop,shut it off closed the screen son came home opened and stsrted it,nothing....reinstalled the video driver from the cd worked fine all day saturday shut it off turn it on no problem until we closed the laptop then tried to start nothing.Still works fine when its hooked to the tv (why?) just wont come up on the laptop...also tried to hook it into my desk monitor and nothing...the thing starts the fan and thats it until you plug in the tv then all works fine what gives?how hard is it to change the video card in a zd7000?all my info is in another thread on page 3 i`d post a link if i new how thanks

 

As it is only happening when the screen is closed, it could be a loose connection at the LCD or motherboard causing the problem, or a pinched cable.

 

took the top off the laptop could find no pinched or loose cable and now no matter what i do i cant get the screen back.laptop works when its hooked to a tv but not any other time,also when i tried to hook up my desk top monitor the laptop wouldn`t respond,could the video card (nvivia geforce fx go5700) be fried?if so how do i change it (zd 7000 hp) thanks

 

Doubt that your video card is fried or it wouldn't work on the TV. Might try checking in Control Panel to see if there are some settings there that could affect this.

 

ok might try a complete reinstall of the whole system tomorrow thanks
