Black screen crash with WildBlue

    XP Pro Version 2000 SP2
    Intel Pentium 4
    CPU 2.66 GHz
    768 MB Ram

Trying to get my sons Dell 2400 hooked up to WildBlue High Speed Internet. Installer had a hard time initially but it finally started working before he left. Whenever he enabled the Lan connection, it would go to a black screen and reboot. Now it does it everytime. Panda, SpyNoMore and RegCure show everything is clean. Checking here and elsewhere in researching, I have replaced my ethernet card and updated the driver (Linksys Etherfast PCI Adapter). I pulled the Ram 256 memory stick and put it in the vacant slot. It connected one time but when I had to reboot again for an update, the problem started all over. I bought a 512 Ram card and tried in both slots with no change. I do not have a floppy drive so I was not able to do a mem test. I d/l another program to use my CD but I could not get my PC to read an ISO file even after d/l 2 programs to do so.

Everything else works fine if I have Lan disabled for ethernet cord unplugged. I even tried wireless thru a router. As soon as the USB adapter connects, the same thing happens, black screen and reboot. Before I changed the settings to stop reports, I would get mini dumps, mostly "mini072307-04.dmp". I have removed them from my system.

In reading on similar topics it appears that memory or power problems may be the culprit. I do not have another power supply to try. Am I looking in the right direction here?

    Thanks,
    Chuck

Still no luck. Can someone take a look at this and tell me if anything needs to be addressed. All the things I have tried has seemed to slow down the PC just enough to notice. I got WildBlue to work a few times by unplugging their modem, enabling the Lan connection and them powering up the modem. It only worked a few times and now it's back to black screen and reboot on every attempt.

    SOLVED.

I noticed on the Hijack report that even though I had the Panda firewall turned off, it still listed it. Maybe it was suppose to but I uninstalled Panda just for kicks. I plugged the ethernet cord in and enabled and it worked. I rebooted and it immediatly connected. Sooooooo, for now, it appears that was the problem. I will contacted Panda/WildBlue to see if this is a common problem. I hate to lose Panda. If anyone sees anything on my report I would still appreciate any and all advise.

Although I have just posted here for the first time, I have relied on your site many times. Thanks for all you do.
