Black screen on bootup

    On starting my computer I get the motherboard logo , then just before windows logo is meant to pop up , there is a little moment for about 5 seconds a black screen with a flashing text cursor thing , and then finally the windows logo comes up and all is normal. I was wondering what the black screen was and if it is possible to get rid of it ?
