black screen when game starts !!

ok so i have a serius problem.

when i try to play Civ4 and Call of Duty 2
and Company of Heroes.

i get black screan the game start but but it is all black.

the monitor looses signal.

i have just installed Call of Duty 2, and when starting it op
it works fine but no signal.

how to get it to work,

and what could be wrong. ??

i have a

Nvidia Geforce 7300 GS card

 

Can you post the rest of your system? I think it might be inefficient RAM.

Maybe the monitor doesn't like the game's resolution, which would explain why the monitor loses the signal. I haven't played so I wouldn't know this, but is there an external settings panel that you can change the resolution with? Does it actually say "No Signal" on the monitor, or are you guessing because it's black?

 

well i am resonably sure since the power on led flashes.

but it might be the screen. it is an old IBM 21XG. that i cant even find drivers for.

 

well so is it just the screen ?

i have just installed AA. and it also starts up in black.

but some of the games i have played before on an older maschine.

with an 6600 GT like Civ4, company of heroes.

and they worked on this screan.

 

This isn't a fix, but may help. Try reducing your desktop resolution to 1024x768 and turn down the monitor refresh to 60Hz. Then start up one of your games. I mention this, because new games are smart. They will detect a 1600x1200 desktop setting and assume your monitor can handle that resolution at 75Hz refresh in game mode. Except that it can't! This way you may be able to load a "lower capability" startup screen, and then configure graphics modes in the game to compliment your CRT, with more reasonable settings.

my normal windows setting is 1280x960 - 75 hz

and when i tried to go down to 1024 x 768 it goes black

and even if i turn 75 hz down to 60 hz and then tries again it is still black screan confused

 

it also goes black in 3DMark06 the first 2-3 screans (tests)

 

i have now gone back to my old 6600 GT

and now call of duty start op just fine, (allthougt lags in game)
