Blitware File Helper 1.1.0.10

Hi guys. (Hope it's okay to start this thread. I did a search and didn't find info on this.)

Hi guys. My co-worker is having serious slowness on her PC, so I am doing the usual things to check for, and remove, any malware, clearing cache, etc.

She has a little red X in the bottom right corner (launchbar), and it says it's the Blitware File Helper 1.1.0.10. It says it detects broken files and wants to repair them. She was going to run it, but I said since neither of us were familiar with it, we should look into it and make sure it's a legit program. I can't tell. I've been researching it (but am busy at work), and some sites seem to like it and say it's helpful, but other sites say it's malware. Anyone familiar with it?

 

I'd get rid of it.

In add/remove programs, uninstall any reference to this, if you can. May have to go into safe mode to do so.

From a run box, type services.msc, find and disable any references to this.

And disable any/all references to this program (not Winpatrol,the Bit Torrent program). At the same time, under the startup tab, disable everything else except any references to the anti virus that is being running, spyware protection, Winpatrol, and any Microsoft programs. The results will likely be dramatic, upon reboot, unless there is malware on the machine.

I do this all the time, and it always works.
