I have five laptops connecting to a home wireless network. Using the D-Link DIR-655 wireless router. (tried their site but the d-link site sucks so I'm here bothering you!!! Sorry.) Anyway...

I'd like to block my kids from getting on Facebook between certain hours of the day (more like Night). Anyone know how to do that through this router?
    Thanks

p.s. we're all sharing the same IP so that's a problem...

Your sharing the same external IP from your provider, but you have separate internal IP's. What OS are you using? Win has parental controls built in.

I'll see if that router offers regulating via the MAC address. The ip address is just too easy to defeat. I do it in my office to get around my own firewall.

Sorry, that was supposed to say Windows 7 has parental controls built in. Click click click and the computer account is locked up from 11pm to 6am or whatever you chose.

It's not so bad, better than I expected it to have.

I can only test a portion of the setup from their site.
To block a site always, open the router's page and go to
    Advanced on the top
    Access Control on the side

For setting schedule and parental controls, go to
    Tools on the top
    Schedules on the side.
Enter in the computer info and the times there and save. After it's saved, you can go in and set the policies.

Oh how I wish i had that option some days when they won't turn pandora down. Three requests and then ZAP! Don't listen to it at all!

Easy to break tho, parental controls are a bad solution in my opinon, i know when i grew up, i knew way more then my parents and the only solution to keep me off the computer was physical, ie lock up the computer, unplug the modem or router and lock it up. Anyhow, i have a dir 655 too, awesome router. Your looking for "advanced" then "access control" then "enable acces control" then add policy, then follow the wizard. Also might be helpful to stick them with a reserved ip via setup - network settings - down towards the bottom reserve next to the machine name. Good luck

:) If you set them up by mac address and then put them on a limited user account and they then manage to change their mac or proxy past your restriction -- get them a scholarship to computer college, especially if they are 13 or under.

Tell them I'll pay them $20 to bring my former laptop back to life for a day too!

One of the OSs is Apple, one is Vista, one is 2000 and two are 7.

Thanks everyone... I'll get into this today and let you know.

Seems a bit easier to figure out than I first expected.
