Are back at the beach! WooHoo! I took a quick video with my camera as they were getting back into formation over our building. We're on the top floor so I've been looking out the windows watching the show today. The show runs through Sunday so we're going to go down to the beach to get better pictures this weekend...will post them when I get them.:)

Video is a very brief .avi and plays good in WMP 10 and newest version of winamp. Older version of WMP pixelated the heck out of it when played:eek:

For those not familiar with The Blue Angels.. pics and history.

    Download AVI 2.22mb

I've seen a lot of airshows, and have gotten somewhat jaded and bored with most of it, but either the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds still get my attention. They put on a great show.

When I was in the RAF I got the chance to take my nephew to see these guys in person.
They gave him posters and stickers and waved to him as they were taxiing up the taxiway onto the runway.

He loved it, but he was not so keen when one of them had a birdstrike and that nice white stripe down the side was not so white anymore...

I still think they are the best display team in the world.

We walked down to the lake and watched the Blue Angels at the Chicago Air Show this year. The kids loved it. Played on the beach and in the water. We had a great view. The kids talked about it for weeks.

I was at Hill AFB Utah 1980 back when the Thunderbirds were still flying T-38's...

Unfortunately that was the same show that Captain David "Nick" Hauck
in solo number 6 crashed into a hillside that was no more than 200 yards away from where we were standing...

I wasn't the only one affected by the crash...

Well BoredOutOfMyMind, I don't know whether to thank-you, or shoot you!! LOL!! As I was watching those links you supplied about the Blue Angels, my 5 year old son walked into the room and was totally mesmerized by them!! My son, and I, loved them. So much so, I haven't been able to do ANYTHING on the computer!! Everytime I go to check my e-mail, or something, here comes Zach wanting to watch HIS Blue Angels!! And, of course, he watches his Blue Angels!! He loves the part at the end of the 9 minute clip where the 'momma' Blue Angel takes off. According to him, the 'momma' is taking off so she can go up in the sky and take care of her 'babies!!!' He liked the 30 second clip also where the one Blue Angel turns into 2 Blue Angels!!
I'm just glad that my son decided he wanted to take a nap, or I would NEVER been able to post this!! I guess I better get done what I need to, because in about an hour we'll be watching his Blue Angels again!!! Thanks alot, friend :p LOL!!!

A couple of years ago, I was working a concert at the air show in Muskegon, MI. Happened to be the day before the Blue Angels were performing, so they were there practicing all while we were setting up. We had to get special FAA and military clearance to be on the stage, since it was less than 100 yards from the runway they were using. All I can say is WOW!!!!!

And that you absolutely can NOT take a nap during the afternoon if you've got time off, because they are ungodly loud! :D

Well, I'm now the proud owner of Blue Angel wallpaper, Blue Angel screensaver, and Blue Angel mouse cursors!! I also downloaded all those hi-res pictures and printed them out and now my son has a Blue Angel bedroom!! No, that wasn't my idea either. My wife went to those sites too and asked Zach if he'd like to have it and I'll bet you'll never guess what that answer was!!! Oh well, the wife's happy, the son's happy, the dog's happy....life is GOOD!!!! :)

No, something like that stays with you forever.

Not the first pilot to ride a dying bird into the ground rather than risk it hitting bystanders on the ground. Not all heroes die in wartime.

Such a bummer but we missed going to the beach for an up close look again this year (I've been stumbling around like a drunk again due to the migraine dizziness :( ). We could still see some of the show out the windows when they cleared the trees...a couple times I thought they might come into our living room for alanding...was pretty kewl:D They are all so awesome not just the Blue Angels. Saturday there were 200,000 plus people there:eek:

Next year they'll be at Mayport which is only about 13 miles from here...if we don't make it there we can always shoot for the beach again in 2007:)

    haha! I love Top Gun!:D

My Dr gave me a script for meds but the main side effects were seizure and possible coma. uhmmm...no thank you...I'll suffer. I have migraine dizziness which goes back to my whiplash injuries...re: the muscles in my neck and upper back get rigid pinching the nerves so communication in my brain gets messed up...turning my head or moving my eyes up, down, right or left causes all kinds of weird things to happen including severe headache, dizziness and nausea and yup...vomiting...ugh.... Then there's the ocular migranes...I can't see anything but bright flashing/pulsing lights r anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes...when those hit it takes me at least 3 days to recover from the associated migraine I get after the aura. ehhh...I'm making a Dr's appt to see if there are other options...been stumbling around for over a week again.:(

Oh yeah...I forgot to mention..star slept through the whole thing yesterday...guess when you launch rockets for a living a few jets buzzing the house isn't a big deal.:D
