Blue Arrows On Files/folders

Whose bright idea to add those butt-ugly blue arrows on some files and folders in Windows 10? They may not bother other people, but I dislike them intensely. Is there any way to get rid of them, other than changing how they are viewed in a window?

Thanks for the reply, plodr! I'm not talking about shortcut arrows. I mean the 2 blue arrows in the upper right corner of a document, file, or folder.

I just found out those 2 blue arrows indicate the file or folder is compressed.

Trouble is when you check they mostly are not compressed. All the one here are Office 12 icons (Office 2007) and none of them are compressed. Seems to be a bug.

 

It might be the arrows indicate compression is enabled.

 

The blue arrows in the upper right corner of the file/image. They make my
