Blue font in BIOS

    I recently opened a malicious file and it immediately shut down my computer and I was unable to access Windows. I even couldn't run my Windows DVD to reformat. Now my BIOS font is blue and the Ubuntu I recently installed is also in a very odd blue/greeny colour.

    Has the virus gone and killed my GPU?

    Welcome to Major Geek!

    I doubt it but there is not much we can do fo you here if your PC is not bootable in any form. Have you taken your hard drive to another PC and put it in as a slave to recover any info you need? If not you should do that and then try reinstalling. For help with that (since it sounds like you are having some kind of problem) you should post exactly what problem you are having in the Software Forum. If you think your BIOS is corrupted, you may need to set it back to defaults or to reflash it. That is a topic for the Hardware Forum.

    I managed to fix everything up. I installed Ubuntu 8.10. Reformatted my HD and then I could use the Windows DVD to reformat and install Windows. As for the discoloration, it appeared to happen because the LCD cable wasn't connected properly so I plugged it back in and tightened up the screws and it was fantastic color vision.
