    I always get the
    driver_irql_not_less_or_equal error message

and on the bottom it changes from like
    tascam (my recording software)

or usbhub or something like that..

idk what causes it to turn blue or randomly turn off but does anyone have suggestions for how i can fix it or show you my error logs?

When you get the error message, does the screen turn blue with white text?

edit: silly question, you said it turns blue. When does it do this?

    Hi.
I had this same problem last week on a new computer is was building, I searched the net a lot to find out what could cause this.

Eventually I found out it was the mobo drivers that came with the motherboard being out of date already.
The only way I could keep the comp on long enough was to leave a disc in the dvd drive, which meant my computer stayed on long enough to download and install the new drivers after that it was sorted.

Like I said I did a lot of reading, other people that had this message said that they found the problem to be their RAM.

Can you post a few more details of when it does it, i.e before you get to the windows desktop or does it load the desktop then do it?
What have you changed on ur comp, hardware, software drivers, how old is your comp?

common causes for BSOD upon startup include: bad hard drive, corrupt Windows files, viruses, bad drivers, RAM, hardware failure, solar flares, disturbances in the force....

yes the screen turns blue with white text.

it randomly does this like ive had it not happen to me for a week and i've had it happen 2times in a day.

and its not cuz of what programs i run cuz i run usually the same programs all the time.

this is a brand new lenovo thinkpad laptop and it has 2 GB ram

    possibly overheating CPU?

Have you run the memory test? could be on its way out.

do you plug any usb devices in before this happens?

If it is brand new, you need to contact Lenovo and RMA it so you can get a new laptop that works. BSOD should not be appearing on a new computer.

well yea i mean i have downloaded quite a few torrents so idk if thats the root of the problem. but i only downloaded ones with lots of seeds so i figured they're pretty safe?

and yea i plug in 3 usbs: a tascam us144 interface (music recording device), a usb mouse, and a usb webcam

There is always the possibility of malware...but first go to device manager and look for any ! or ? or X's.

hmm yea i noticed there were some ? and ! and X's and stuff because my computer doesnt recognize USB's automatically like other computers do

iinitially the computer came as vista but they gave me the xp installation disc so i installed XP instead.. could that be the reason why it doenst automatically recognize the USBs that i input? and does anyone know how to get it so it automatically does recognize them so i wont have to manually install drivers every time?

Hi Yes very likely as you are more often than not if USB is not picked up going to be missing your motherboards chipset driver, need to goto Lenovos support site and download theXP drivers for your PC model.

Could attach a Everest report and we maybe able to assit in finding the drivers, BUT do not that many hardwares that are designed for Vista dont have or have very hard to find XP drivers.

Everest to find this info, at times a summary log of your PC can help, to do this

    Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose System Summary Only > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)

Do NOTE that some parts of this report may have information on your email address and IP address, edit these out and resave the text doc before attaching

Then attach your log to your next post as per these instructions HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post
