Blue Screen Error Message.

I was running a virus scan in safe mode when suddenly the computer stopped and a blue screen appeared. There was a message on the blue screen that said that windows had experienced a serious error and stopped itself to prevent permanent damage. It also said that if this happened again to turn of any antivirus software, run CHKDSK /F, and update any drivers. I turned off the computer and restarted it in normal mode. It started and operated normally without any problems. I then ran CHKDSK /F, just for grins and giggles. The computer still operates normally, with one exception, when I try to boot it in Safe Mode the key board and mouse will not work. I tried to reset the BIOS, but to no avail. Does anybody have any ideas on what the heck may be going on?

2002, Service Pack 2.
2. Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS version 1.10 A05.
3. Keyboard: Dell, IBM enhanced Microsoft Natural PS/2
4. Mouse: Optical Mi Micro Innovations PS/2 Compatible
5. Anti-Virus: 2005 Symantec AntiVirus Full Version 10.0.2.2000

The blue screen error happened again. I submitted an error report to Microsoft. They say the error was caused by a problem with my computer's random access memory. I am about to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tests.
