    hi

i recently bought a new laptop. my computer doesn't allow me to watch dvds so i usually watch my dvds on my laptop. but yesterday while i was watching, i had to close the laptop for a while and when i came back to play it again, the computer slowed down and i had to shut it down.

but when i tried to start the laptop again, after the windows black sign showed up, a blue screen showed up saying that my computer had a problem and to stop it from spreading they closed the windows for a while. to fix it they said to configurate the hard drive, check for new drives, and disable anti-viruses etc. also they said to run CKDSKD (something like that) / F and then restart the computer.

but i have no clue how to do that and don't know how to fix the laptop when i can't even get into my account.

if anyone ever experienced this problem or knows how to fix it please tell me.

thank you and have a good day

    Operating system?

What stage does it get to when booting normally?

it doesn't get to any stage. the window is loading and then before it enters the blue screen where there are users and you have to click one of the boxes, it enters the blue screen that shows the error from the very top of this page.

    safe mode doesn't work either

    So it's XP??

    Try this>

To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, follow these steps:
    1. Start your computer.
    2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.
    3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
    4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.

Stick the XP cd & boot to it. Follow the screen to the repair option. You will end up at a prompt looking window. When you get there you should see C:\ or something like that.

When there type chkddsk /f then hit enter.
