The blue screen and pop ups about spyware are gone!!!! The tools suggested in the read & run me first post are excellent! However I am still unable to connect to the internet. I have attached the log files. If there are any recomendations for this PC please let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Did you try using the suggestion in the process for running SUPERAntiSpyware to fix your network connection. See the third bullet list item from the bottom in the below link:

    SUPERAntiSpyware - running & getting a log

We also have a few more things to do.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

    Uninstall the below software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Viewpoint Manager (Remove Only) <-- should have been uninstalled in step 1 of the READ ME
Viewpoint Media Player <-- should have been uninstalled in step 1 of the READ ME

Now reboot your PC and after reboot, install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment If you cannot connect to the internet, you can do this once you are able to connect again. Just continue on to the next steps.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

    Now delete the below file:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\TDSSwpye.dat

    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below logs:
    • C:\ComboFix.txt
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Thanks for taking time to respond.

I did try the repairs function in SUPERAntiSpyware. Unfurtunately it didn't work.
I followed the recomendations as you suggested. I ran the Ccleaner and the MGtools. I then saw that you wanted a ComboFix log so I ran it again. I have attached the logs.

The computer appears to be running well. The annoying popups are gone. I occasionally get a message that Google desktop did not start successfully. I have also had to wait for google desktop to end when shutting down.

I will continue to work on the internet connection with the folks in the software section.

    Thanks again for your help,
    Dan

When did your problems with connecting begin? Was it before, during or after finishing the READ & RUN ME?

Is this a wireless connection or wired?

Do you still have System Restore points? DO NOT disable System Restore if still currently enabled. You may be able to use system restore to get your connection working again.

I lost the connection before I did read & run me. I was trying to access an online scan and was redirrected to another page. I tried twice, then the connection went away. At that time I attempted to do a system restore. There were no dates available. The connection is wired to a router and then a cable modem.

    Thanks again,
    Dan

Perhaps you are just having basic network connections issues. Try the below:

make sure you have all web browsers closed.
    • Go into Control Panel -->Network Connections.
    • Right click on your connection
    • and click Properties.
    • On the Properties page, highlight Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)
    • Click Properties. This will bring up another page.
    • Select Obtain DNS Server Automatically.
    • Click the ok button. The page will close.
    • Press ok on the page in front of you.
    • Restart the computer.
    • Reconnect to the Internet using Internet Explorer.
Any change? If not, try using the below:

    XP TCP/IP Repair

I also suggest that you uninstall your McAfee software since it is not properly installed at the moment and could be causing problems. Then run the below:

    McAfee Consumer Product Removal Tool

Then reboot your PC and before attempting to reinstall McAfee ( if you still wish to use it ) see if you have a network connection.
