    Dell Vostro 1000 with XP.

After running an AVG scan and "fixing" some problems I'm left with a laptop that won't work. When I boot it and choose which account to use all I get is a blue screen with a cursor.

I tried "safe mode" but the system doesn't recognize my passwords.

Do I have any choice but to boot from CD? What are my chances a repair will work with these symptoms?

    Thanks!

No idea of the chances, but yes I would start by trying to run repair off my windows cd.
