Just to give Buddy Miles his due as he died last Tuesday. It's more Hendrix than anything but this defines Buddy pretty well IMO.

Good choice ynot, I don't know what genre either but I love anything with Roy in it.:) Plus it fits into the gist of this thread.:) I called it blues as the other threads called 'what are you listening to' are a catchall. There's nothing wrong with those threads, just that we were posting great music in the chatbox and I didn't want to see the links disapper. Post on ynot. You have great taste by the looks of it!:guitar

Brought no tunes, just wanted to tell I watched the film JANIS last night. Wow if you haven't seen it do so. It's a Bio but for a change more singing the interview, although she is pretty cool with those too.

Here's a band I haven't heard of yet, lead guitar sounds like a cross between Hendrix and SRV. They're on CBS's Second cup cafe this morning.

Back Door Slam-Come Home They do a good version of Roadhouse too.

Ooh Darlene, a very nice classic it is. :coolHere's another take on the same tune with Miles Davis sitting in, but sadly he doesn't do much, perhaps because Herbie played a muted trumpet on his keyboard in Davis' style? I don't know.

I was looking for a James Brown tune for a joke when I found this of all things. I don't really know what to say at this point about it. Sure is different to say the least.:confused

I've been listening but not posting, so here comes a few.
    The ladies for Darlene:
    A native-born Michigander
Barbara Morrison - Everyday I Get The Blues

    This lady gives me chills!
Big Mama Thornton - Rock Me
Big Mama Thornton / Buddy Guy - Hound Dog

And this is for you augie.
Like someone said in the comments: bear with this for awhile and you won't be disappointed. At about 5:30 Jack explodes!
Jack Bruce - First Time I Met The Blues

    And for me:
Jeff Beck - Goodbye Pork Pie Hat / Brush With the Blues

Yaaah man!!!:dancer Big Mama Thorton is great too. Thanks muskie. Now to listen to them.:)

BTW, Jack Bruce wrote most of the songs and sang them too when with Cream. Eric owes him big time IMO.

A quite jazzier Jack Bruce can be found, 'Things We Like', recorded while he was still with Cream in '69. Unfortunatley, no youtube offering for you to try that I could find. The range of this guy is amazing! :eek

Here's one with Rory Gallagher, Politician

Hmmm, augie's getting his Jack Bruce fix. LOL
    He is good, though.
I always thought Leo Lyons (TYA) was a very good bass player. Check out him and Alvin jamming starting at 2:30. The dude is darn near as fast on the bass as Alvin is on the guitar.
Grab your ear plugs, Darlene. It's a LOUD one, LOL
Alvin Lee And Ten Years After - Good Mornin' Little Schoolgirl

Forgive me if this one already got posted, but TYA deserves more space in time.;)

Well, this is certainly not blues for the most part but the guitar work is exquisite. Shivers me timbers.:)

Wow, didn't know Stevie Ray Vaughn and Albert King had ever played together -- and that song's a great favorite of mine. Did they do more together? Is there a CD or DVD of this stuff, augie?
