I've tweaked myself into a mess. I went into my Bluetooth Properties via RUN - bthprops.cpl and de-selected (unchecked) the box TURN DISCOVERY ON on the Options tab. I thought it would be more secure to leave this off unless I needed it, especially when going out in public with my tablet. Now I can't seem to connect my bluetooth keyboard, mouse or modem.
When I try to check the box and click APPLY, I get an error "An error occured while Windows was saving your settings. Your settings were not saved for: Discoverability Settings"
Does anyone know what is going on and how to fix it? I have tried everything I can think of. This might not be what is causing my problem, but it is the only thing I can think of that might have done it.

Thanks for anyone's help..... Jeff WinXP SP2 Toshiba b/t stack Zoom 4300 b/t modem

    Has BlueTooth ever worked prior?

    See if THIS helps.

My bluetooth has worked great in the past. But I've had some major spyware/adware problems and made many changes over the past few weeks with help from Shadow on the spyware forum. Ran lots of cleanings. I did run the cCleaner "Issues" tool and let it fix everything. Could it have 'fixed' me up and somehow deleted something needed for bluetooth to work? Jeff
PS the info at "THIS" didn't help

    Forgot to mention:
I think that cCleaner made a backup of the registry before it "fixed" the "Issues"
    It saved it as cc_20060107_1801.reg
Should I try restoring this file? Is a a registry backup? Do you know how to restore it?
Or should I rollback my system using a restore point prior to the fix?

All the options you mentioned may help.

If you suspect CCleaner, restore it's registry backup. Just double click the file, and YES.

The restore didn't fix it. I think the b/t radio ain't broadcasting! Maybe that is why I can't select that TURN ON DISCOVERABILITY setting.
I looked in my BIOS and under Wireless Lan the bluetooth in ENABLED.
But nothing will connect, not even a mouse. When I try to dial a call from Outlook using the b/t modem as a dialer (it used to work fine), the screen goes white for a few seconds and then I get a Bluetooth Manager Bluetooth Security box asking for the passkey (pin). But either typing the correct pin for the modem, or leaving it blank (as a default pin) does not work. I get a Bluetooth Connection Failure box saying "Authentication with (00:10:60:29:4F:F8) went wrong"

I fixed my problems by uninstalling the program Toshiba Bluetooth Stack and then installing an update version.
Thanks for your help. You can delete this thread if you'd like since it probably won't help anyone else.
    Jeff
