Unfortunately, the hidden iexplorer.exe process is still here.

    And is Comodo uninstalled?

Do the Filemon procedure right now and attach a new log.

I put the log here, because I can't attach it: I receive a pop-up saying "the message is too short"

You did not directly answer but I assume Comodo is uninstalled??

Did you at one time have Dr Solomon Antivirus installed? The NTguard.log and ntguard.exe that I have seen in your logs is related to Dr Solomon and perhaps some of it is still running.

You problem was not in attaching the log. It was that you did not put any text into the message to accompany it. You must have about 10 to 15 characters in the message to avoid the message to short error.

I had uninstall Comodo and restarted comp before running Filemon. There is no firewall installed on my comp.
I don't know what Dr Solomon is.
If I had done such a childish mistake like trying to send an empty message, I must apologize.

When you first began this thread, you had ZoneAlarm installed. Why/when did you install Comodo and did you uninstall ZoneAlarm first?

Please use the RegSrch tool again but search for ntguard attach the new log.

Also download the attach search.zip file and extract the search.bat file from it to your Desktop. Then double click on the search.bat file to run it. When it finishes its search, a file named c:\flist.txt will have the results of a search that looks for files with the word ntguard in them. Please attach the flist.txt file here.

I had install Comodo a few days ago, after I realized that ZoneAlarm was culpable for large majority of freeze events. I searched the internet for "best free firewall" and found a lot of good impressions about Comodo.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it
double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

    Now rerun Blacklight.

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. Avenger
    2. Blacklight log
    3. GetRunKey
    4. ShowNew
    5. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Try running it again after shutting down your antivirus program. If that still does not allow it to run, see if you can delete the files yourself (use safe mode if necessary).

Avenger is dead. I deleted the two files in safe mode, and the registry entry.
Now I am looking to see how comp is performing.

OK, the old problem was not solved. My browser is slowing down so much when a torrent client is running, that I have to wait at least 10 sec for any page to load or refresh. Maybe is better to try Opera?

Okay it appears that the hidden IE process is now gone.

You need to reinstall your firewall now.

This is not a malware problem. It is something related to the torrent client you are running or a conflict with other software or settings on your PC. Torrent clients can use a significant amount of your system resources which will slow down all other operations.

Your logs are clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix, you can delete the ComboFix.exe file, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, and the C:\combofix.txt log that was created.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    9. You can delete the ShowNew.Zip and GetRunkey.Zip files and the files that you extracted from the ZIP files. You can also delete the C:\newfiles.txt and C:\runkeys.txt logs that were created
    10. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    11. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Thanks a lot, abri and chaslang. Yow are indeed great experts. You did a great job, so I intend to donate some money to your site.

    Thanks Razbaul!
You need to thank Chas really! It was a pleasure following the thread and interesting on my own, reading that Dr. Solomon was used by M.I.T. in the mid 90s as their antivirus software. Is there any chance you inherited remnants of that program with your computer? I've been curious.
