    I just got a pop-up message saying the stand alone Bo-Clean will be discontinued in 2 days and to download Comodo's Security Suite because it contains Bo-Clean in it.

    Has anyone else got this message? I dont really want a security suite, Im happy with my Anti-Vir and the other programs I have in place. What can I replace Bo-Clean with? Has anyone replaced it?

    I first posted this as I was trying to understand exactly which product they are pointing us to. The message says:

    "Please visit http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/
    to install COMODO Internet Security, which has BOClean Integrated."

    The site doesn't have a product which exactly matches this name. It has the offer of a 30 free trial of "Internet Security Pro". I've updated this post now, as I found that on clicking the "basic protection" download link, it then says "Comodo Firewall and AntiVirus is now Comodo Internet Security. The Latest version of our award-winning Firewall"

    By the way, I had a look at Chaslang's Malware guide again, and followed the link in there for "Comodo Internet Security", but when I tried to download from "the author's site", I got "Oops! This link appears to be broken".

    For resident protection, I'm currently using:
    * PC Tools Firewall
    * Avira AntiVirus
    * Comodo BOClean (for malware)

    So, looking at Chaslang's guide, should I swap BOClean for Spyware Terminator to provide resident spyware protection, and keep the others? Or remove them all and install Comodo Internet Security?

    Thanks.

    I came here hoping to see whether anyone tried Comodo's new protection group yet, and don't see anyone saying they did.
    I have been reluctant to install it because I'm happy with Avira antivirus, and I thought I recalled reading that some were not happy with Comodo's firewall.
    Crap. Think I'll try it on one of the laptops, anyway, and let you know.
    Wish me luck.

    Well, I've done it. Got it on one laptop and the desktop, and so far, so good.
    Took a long time to download, install, update, and scan (about an hour each, altogether), but no big problems so far.
    Small considerations: it's 72.2 Mb in XP(SP2)/Vista 32-bit (I wasn't sure whether to pick that one or the 64-bit, and didn't see any help offered);
    it includes the SafeSurf Toolbar with Ask.com search, which can be declined during installation; and there's a lot more detail in the configuration than I was comfortable with, but that's only because I had no idea what the heck they were referring to a lot of the time.
    Haven't seen anything that reminds me of BOClean; it is mainly an antivirus and firewall program.
    It found nothing on the laptop, but 3 malware-type items on the desktop.
    I've had no problems surfing on either computer since installation, so I guess I can recommend it.
    I will report any future difficulties that might arise.

    BOClean can be just as "heavy" on an already sluggish computer.

    If you want a free behavior based replacement you don't have many choices...

    Do you recommend AVG over Avira in that configuration?

    I.E.

    CIS Firewall and Defense+, Spybot, and SpywareBlaster WITH AVG

    vs.

    CIS Firewall and Defense+, Spybot, and SpywareBlaster WITH Avira

    Thanks so much.

    To the comments about BOclean possibly causing system lag: I was a former fan of BOclean. I used it on my home PC and recommended it regularly. Then, one day, out of the blue, after running Boclean for over 7 months, my PC was suddenly slower. This was immediately noticeable because my PC is never slow. I immediately opened the task manager and noticed BOclean was stuch at a minimum of 50% CPU usage, and would spike as high as 92%. Upon investigating at the Comodo forums or web site, I found it was a known issue, and the 'fix' was to reboot, or to uninstall and reinstall, which I did. Everything was OK for about 3 months, and again BOclean was spiking CPU usage. I removed it permanently and went to the paid MalwareBytes full version (coupled with Avira's free AntiVir) and haven't looked back.

    Thanks for bringing up this issue. I kept meaning to check on this when I noticed it was outdated / not supported anymore. I didn't realize it wasn't protecting my system anymore. Dang, it gets overwhelming trying to decide how to best protect ourselves and which programs to use (for me anyway). Thanks for all of the great tips.

    Wow ... I must have been sleeping when I read the post on this issue but THANK YOU for clearing it up for me. It's really not taking up much of my resources so I think I'll just leave it alone for now, unless I CAREFULLY read otherwise. Again, thanks! :)
