I have been looking for an add-on in FF (10.0) that allows me to also put my bookmarks in IE9 favorites (ah, US spelling)...so I don't have to use the importing/exporting feature. So far have not found anything in add-ons, and have 'googled' for it also...does anybody know of an add-on or is there a 'trick' I'm oblivious to here....very seldom use IE, but would like to have those 'thingeys' there and up to date. Anyone with a creative approach, and/or solution will have my eternal gratitude.....:) Sort of a cross-browsering kind of thing, eh.

Didn't know where to put this so went for the 'lounge'.....

Try Transmute Standard (free). http://gettransmute.com/products/ It doesn't support syncing though.
See what browsers it supports. http://gettransmute.com/

While using XP I migrated Firefox's bookmarks successfully into Opera when I tried out Opera quite a while back.

It's not an extension but a standalone app.

Checked it out, and as you mentioned it doesn't sync, unless u want to shell out $30. for all the bells and whistles. Bookmarked as very interesting (first one I've seen actually) for future ref,
will stick with the export feature for now if there is no other option. Tusen tack for your help. There has to be a way of doing this as a lot of people must run into this, and the way browsers interact or not is kind of lacking in the programming area.... my 2 cents...again thanks for your time and help.:) Have no problem with migrating faves, the rub lies in the syncing.......:( Oh yeah, using Win 7 Home....forgot that salient fact.....:-o

Google Toolbar saves your Bookmarks in any browser.

Unless you are bugged on the new G-Privacy rules.

xmarks does not list win 7, so don't know what to do with that one. Would have been what I needed...

How do I get Google Toolbar to save my bookmarks in any browser, not familiar with this aspect of 'G'. Have gmail acct, and of course use it for search....What else is on the toolbar, as I have the ones I like right now.

    Thanks lovely people !!:)

    Works on ALL browsers!

Here's an off-the-wall way of doing it if you're talking about FF and IE being on the same computer.

Open FF and show your favorites. Open IE. Left click and drag the favorite you want from FF into the main IE pane and the website will open in IE. I then close FF after I've dragged over the one I want.

This might be a pain if you're using this method for a lot of favorites, but for just one or two and very occasional use it works just fine and there's no add-on or additional program to install. I don't know about other combinations of FF and IE other than it also worked in all previous versions of FF 3.x.

I want xmarks off my pc, it does not let me log in or use it. This is a bloody mess. How do I get off the HD, as it's not in my add/remove.

If you installed it specifically for Firefox, you remove it through your add-ons in FF. And I agree, it's too annoying to ask you log in just to sync bookmarks and it's not very consistent. I uninstalled it not long after trying it some time ago and I have no intention of using it again. I sync bookmarks through Windows Live Mesh.

Thanks solaris89 I eventually found it in add-ons and removed it, was a wee bit upset with the nagging to register as it kept telling me I had the wrong user/pass whatever I did. I will look at Windows Live Mesh, and see if it is what I want. Otherwise I guess I will just export FF bookmarks to a file in docs, and if I need the link just get it from that.
Thanks to everybody that helped, sometimes it works and sometimes it aint what you are looking for.....:)
