boot and secure hard drive

Im looking for a program that will allow me to make a boot cd that will zero out my entire harddrive. What I mean by this is a prog that will completly erase my computers drive, windows and all. Making my drive as though I just bought it with no left over files on it. Any ideas?

 

pop out your drive put it into another pc as a slave and format it

 

I would do that but its in my one laptop. Another problem with this, least to my understanding, is that this doesnt entirely get ride of the data. From talking on other forums I need a program that can write over existing and previously deleted data to make sure that there is no trace of it. Any ideas?
