    I'm not sure if this is hardware or software. But I believe it may be hardware.

    While booting up, the PC randomly freezes after POST, and before windows starts to load, with the message;

    Verifying DMI Pool Data.........

    Sometimes, after rebooting or in most cases, rebooting 3 times I get;

    verifying dmi pool data .............
    amd data change update new data to dmi update success

    after which, it will boot up.

    Any ideas of what causes this and how I can stop it? I'm stumped.

    I tried clearing cmos, but that didn't work.

    I have updated the bios to the latest version for the motherboard.

    The motherboard is Foxconn m61pmv; I updated with 846F1P10.BIN via their AWDFLASH.EXE program after booting into dos.

    I have seen the second message so far, but not the first, where it freezes, I will update if it does.

    The error is still there.

    I'd run all the regular hardware checks (RAM, HDD) and doublecheck the BIOS settings are proper.

    I'd rule out hardware, and then start looking at the MBR. You may even want to boot a Kaspersky Rescue Disk or run TDSSKiller to look for rootkits.

    It's a brand new hard disk. I ran RAM tests using memtest 86+ and it passed.

    The BIOS settings are proper

    I get the error sometimes while trying to boot to CD/DVDs and flash drives as well, so it's not a hard disk or malware problem.

    now i'm getting problems to boot normally.

    It doesn't want to boot at all

    keeps getting stuck at that

    Verifying DMI Pool Data.........

    If the CMOS battery has expired, it could be the issue. If not, this is when we pull out PC Doctor.

    Have you reseated all components?

    Do you mean a new hard drive?
    If so, there may be a problem with it.
    What is the brand because there are tools to test hard drives.

    I used Sea Tools for DOS to test the hard drive, and it passed both the Short and Long tests. As well as it reports that SMART was not tripped. So I'm inclined to believe the hard drive is not the problem.

    This is the point where I start investigating the condition of other hardware like the RAM, and even the board on a component level if everything else passes.

    Have you run a round of MemTest?

    Yes, as I said above, I ran memtest 86+ and both sticks of RAM passed.
