    Hey Guys,
I still got that old HP 98 machine. We were using it to soft-mod an original Xbox, we unplugged the HD and I tried to get it to boot from CD(changed the boot sequence). It didn't work. I don't know how to get it to boot from the CD. It's an HP Pavilion 8395, I think it's running Phoenix BIOS. Also it has a DVD drive and I'm using a CD. Would that make a difference?
We are running off this site:

When we get it all plugged in(about half way down the page--The Hotswap and Softmod-- My monitor doesn't come on. It works without the CD and the Xbox HD powered by the PSU in the computer.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Spock96

    According to the article:

"Leave only your CD drive as the secondary master". Is your CD connected by it's own cable to it's own IDE port?

Does your computer have a floppy drive?

You said it was unplugged. Are you talking about the CD drive or floppy drive?

    The floppy drive.
I think were gonna look for a different place for instructions. Thanks for the help.

    I don't know for sure.
I have a 98 CD I got from a friend a year ago or more plus a boot floppy as well. I'm thinking it was 98 not 98SE.

If you get the floppy working again, you can try using PLOP boot manager on a floppy. Boot the floppy and with a CD in the drive, select boot from CD. You will have to use the floppy img file and rawwritewin.

Did you try booting the CD you created on another computer? Did you burn the iso file from that website at the slowest speed?
