Boot/Hard Disk Error

After powering up my computer a heavy clicking noise is present and it sounds like the CDROM drives are trying to pop open. It does a memory test (OK) Detects IDE primary master (none) verifies pool, Initializing MBA..... Then it Shows a client Mac address and tries to PXE boot (it detects DHCP, no boot filename recieved NONE) The error messege that I am recieving is "Disk boot failer, Insert System Disk and Press Enter". Could this be caused by something wrong with my hard disk, or did just my system boot files get corrupted or deleted. Is their a way to provide the bood files. I tried putting a XP media edition disc in the CDROM and i press enter nothing happens. Any information would be greatly appreciated. THANKYOU!!!

The clicking noise is almost certainly your hard drive. That is the noise they make when they fail.

But if i booted to XP CD and then Recovery Console I would not be able to fixmbr or fixboot?

 

The clicking noise is the hard drive suffering mechanical failure.
You might get it to run once if you took it out of the pc and put it into a freezer for half an hour then put it back into the pc.

To get the pc to boot from cd enter the bios (watch the screen as you power up) tap F2 or Del key and set the first boot device to CD.

Fixboot and Fixmbr are for mechanically healthy disks.
