The problem is I tried to install XP Pro over XP Home and I formatted it using the XP disk. However when I start it up I get the selection screen between the two. I'd like to boot up to Home edition so I can recover some pictures and other documents but when I try I get this error message:

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem. Could not read from selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.

It boots up to Pro with no problems. Can anyone help me boot up to Home?

Erase is another name for format, if you did a complete format xp home is not there anymore, if you select xp pro, it will want to continue the install, if its not complete. ed
