Boot problem

Hello.
3 days ago, I reinstalled XP on my MSI notebook. Now, it takes about 10 minutes for the system to load completely. First, I get desktop picture, without icons or any program started. Atfer 2-3 mins, I can opet task manager, and i get this:

After 2-3 more minutes, more processes begin to appear. And than, finally icons appear. But, again ... no program loads. Not even my Zone Alarm antivirus (it is enabled in startup). And than I must do it manually...
Also, when icons on desktop appear, My Documents folder opens too, automatically.
What should I do to shorten this boot time?

 

Do you have an ATI video card installed? That atievxx.exe is a video controller and I don't believe there should be 2 copies running at the same time. Can slow your machine down pretty good.
The vsmon.exe goes with your ZonaAlarm firewall.

 

You didn't mention if you did a clean install of XP (meaning that you formatted the hard drive before installing) or if you did a repair install of Windows. Occasionally repair installs can be the cause of symptoms like you describe (long boot times, etc). Also, with repair installs, you typically do not have to re-install drivers because they are already installed. If you did reload drivers, and if they didn't go in correctly for some reason, that can lead to issues also. On the other hand, if you just did a clean install, you might consider doing it again since it's only been a few days and you probably don't have much data (if any) that would be lost to a format.....
