    I dont know which forum this should go under , as I dont know the exact location of the problem. If this has a section , please move it and , thanks in advance. Anyway here goes;

    The other day , the electricity was cut off to my house , this means that my computer was therefore cut off instantly . Fine , I suppose , until this .

    Now , each time I try to boot up it says the following ;

    Sorry for the inconvinience but windows did not start succesfully etc.
    Then it gives me the option to boot up my computer with the following

    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode with networking
    Safe mode with Command prompt

    Last known working settings

    Start windows normally.

    If I press either "normally" or "last known" the computer STARTS to boot up as normal ( about a second ) and then a blue screen flashes up and the computer reboots.

    If I press one of the first three options the following text comes on screen;

    Multi(0)Disk(o)Rdisk(o)Paritition(1)Windows\System32\*random filename*

    This comes on the screen a few times with varying filenames at the end. Then it stops and in white it says;

    Press esc to cancel loading a347.bus.sys
    And then it reboots

    So none of the 5 options work.

    Also , when I go into bios , the following text is in red;

    During your last boot up yout system hung for an improper CPU external Speed setting. It is now running in safe mode.

    I was hoping one of my fellow geeks could help shed light on my situation , one of which I am completely perplexed by.

    Try reseting the CMOS.
    Good luck.

    It is usually a jumper on your motherboard near a flat battery. It is the same as the small jumper on a hard drive to set the master/slave/cs options. They are normally labeled on the motherboard as CMOS (in tiny arse letters!).

    If you can find it, turn off the computer, unplug the power cord (will not work if it has power). There should be 3 pins, 2 connected by the jumper. if pins 1 and 2 are connected, move the jumper to pins 2 and 3 for a few mins. Then move it back and power it up. This will reset your BIOS settings back to default, so you may have to reset a few things if you do any BIOS tweaking.

    Note: THE COMPUTER WILL NOT BOOT IF YOU LEAVE THE JUMPER IN THE CLEAR CMOS SETTING! So note the location of the jumper before you take it off.

    If that makes no sense to you, let me know the make and model of your motherboard and I will see if I can find some picts for you. Also, if you have your mobo manual, it should show you how to do it.
