    ColdArmor Private E-2

    Athon XP 2100+
    Asus A7N8X-X
    WD 80gb HDD
    Optorite CD-R/W

When I try to boot from CD if never works... it takes a long time to check the IDE devices but it reconnizes both. I have the master & slave set correctly.

It goes to boot from the CD ROM andit says (after it loads the nVidia Boot Agent)
    Media Failure Check cables.
    Exiting Boot Agent
BOOT DISK FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

and there is a short beep when i start the computer... also the CD ROM drive doesn't spin or anything when it is trying to boot. Also after checking the IDE Drives, it says Floppy Disks Fail (40)

    have you tried new cables?
made sure the connections are all secure? (unplug them and replug them in, check for any bent or misisng pins)

tried clearing the BIOS and reconfiguring them?

and lastly, are you sure you have a bootable cd?

I will try replugging them in this afternoon when I get home... I would have to go out and buy some new IDE cables to test that.

Okay, New situation. I got it to recognize the floppy. It was trying to boot from that rather than the CDROM for some reason. I set it to only boot from the CDROM and nothing else. it instantly says "BOOT DISK FAILURE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" now. I am still going to go get that cable tonight and try it. If you have anymore suggestion now that it actually detecting the floppy, They would be appreciated.

Now I fidled around a bit tonight, and I realized whatever I set the boot order as, the Floppy always tries to boot... what the heck is happening here?!

the floppy isnt actually trying to boot; you probably have "boot up floppy seek" enabled, so its making sure there is a floppy there ;)

even if the floppy is set to boot before the CDROM, if the floppy is empty, the CDROM should boot normally.

if you are getting a non-system disk error, you likely dont have a bootbale disk in the drive.
