Okay so I got a question that has been bugging me forever.

At my technology school, when you go to log on to your account on the computers they have, you type in your password and user name then it logs on to OS. However, I think they boot from the servers they have.

I only think that because they can change everyone's accounts with going into the server room and doing something, they can change settings on our computers without even touching them.

So, does anyone know how to it works? I would like to know so I can try it at home.

    Hi fattwinkie,

For a standard server/client set up in Windows, the administrator can use Group Policies to control the clients. These policies take effect at boot up.
You should look for information online for Active Directory, Group Policy, gpedit, etc.
Here's an example of a group policy that controls some hardware settings - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555324
This subject is massive and can be very complex, so have fun.
    Hope this helps.
