I keep getting the following error msg whenever I try to boot up my Windows XP (EMachines) pc... "lsass.exe - System error. Object name not found".
The Windows XP logo screen comes on - then the error message and a blank desktop and I have to manually power off the pc. Is there a solution to this problem? or is it advisable to reinstall the Restore CD that came with my pc. Thanks.

Is it Lsass or isass? the capital is very important. If it is a capital L, your dealing with an windows conflict, reinstall windows is the fastest solution.
If it is isass its a virus, remove your harddrive and install it in an other pc with a good and up to date antivirus program and do a complete scan.
If you are not sure about it and dont want to reinstall windows try i suggest you try the last.

There are many viruses out there that use letter masking to copy a known running process.
