I'm still hungover from last night and tired from friday, done no work all weekend and got school tomorrow. I live rock n roll

Except it usually doesn't work that way. Usually it's "Live hard, regret it when older."

Im 20 now and wish I was 16 again, I dont want to get old!

You're allowed to drink from 5 in this country with your parent's consent, just can't buy it until you're 18. Next september I can do everything

The man speaks the truth!! All these Yankees appear to have a problem with people under 21 drinking I've never really understood that to be honest, but thats just how it works over there

Well, this debate could be a whole thread in itself for several years, but in summary, I work for a organization that tries to put teenagers back up on their feet after addictive problems with alcohol. If you lower the age limit even further, those who don't drink and respect the law could start doing so and the problem we face with rehabilitiation would become even bigger. That is a very breif summary becuase I don;t feel up to the whole thing *cough, sneeze, ughh*

 

Well, like I said, it's just different. Whether that's a good thing or not is a debate, but it's a simple fact that it's different.

 

Considering over here at seventeen you can go fight and die for your country a few beers seems insignificant,the the law is ass end up you can spent a year in the army over sea's getting shot at,only then can the guys come home and go for a "legal" beer when their eighteen

There is a loong time after the age of your teens and twenties to regret it if one doesn't make the right choices. Not saying ya shouldn't have a drink, but it does tend to have an accumulative effect on the noggin and the body.

Crap, at my age I'm still hungover from a party I went to last month . . .

 

Here in the states you can getcher ass shot off for your country at 18 but in most places can`t get a cold frosty one until you`re 21. Personally, if either one of my daughters(oldest is legal but that`s moot), including my 18 year old, want to have a cold drink or two I`m not gonna carp.

 

And in the UK, as of Thursday pubs and bars with the right license can sell the good stuff 24 hours a day...

The UK already has a bad attitude to drink. Changing the laws isn't going to help. The culture is already there to get bladdered every time and not just enjoy a drink with friends. Re-education is the answer, and we all know how difficult it is to 'un-learn' something than learn it correctly in the first place.

 

What’s a bottle of fire water selling for these days?…..when I last was in the UK 1976, it cost a lot of money for just the bottle, then you had to add on the TAX……..and that’s what people couldn’t afford…..wobbles

 

Can't get it in the UK now, anything above 50% (I think) isn't legal to purchase here.

 

Yup...they lowered the %age of Southern Comfort to conform with the new standard. Now it just tastes like sickly cough syrup with no kick. Such a shame
