    Hey Guys,
AS the title suggests I'm bored...(what else is new). I REALLY wanted to stay away from programing as best I could. I do not understand it. But I would like to try to learn a little bit just for fun and see if I could make anything.
    Questions:
    1) What would be the easiest to learn?
    2) I really don't have a specific thing i want to do/make with it. What could I make a weird little program with that would do something cool? (make me feel I actually did something.)
I am sorry if this makes no sense to anyone. I'm just very bored and I saw a video on the history of the computer in my Networking class today, so I started thinking.
Thanks to all who maybe able to help me.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings, Spock96.

Not going to get into the machine languages - there are just too many flavors from which to choose.

Why not try your hand at something simple yet productive, such as HTML? Try this: right-click on this page, click View Source or View Page Source. Now, by switching between windows, you can see how the code relates to the visual elements on the web page. You can copy the source and store it locally in order to make changes, revisions, tear the thing apart and put it back together again. You can even save the complete page (graphics, CSS, Javascript, etc.) in order to discover how each part interrelates.

An added plus: with millions (if not billions) of examples to choose from on the web, you'll never have to buy a textbook. ;)

Thanks Caliban. :) I learned a bit of HTML in High School. Lets see what I can make of it now.

Yeah, give it a shot. With the disappearance of the 'puter repair market, I make a lot more money now writing and maintaining websites.

You might also consider Visual Basic - it's fun to play with, and meshes well with the web scripting languages such as HTML, PHP, etc.

    Good luck!
